Noosa Lions FC are pleased to announce the double signing of one of Noosa’s favorite son’s Chris Jancevski and fans favorite Sam Nickolls both of whom represented Sunshine Coast Fire in the Playstation 4 NPL in 2016.
Chris a Noosa Lions junior and 2014 senior men’s Players Player of the year returns after being an ever present player for the Fire. Chris’s versatility will be critical for the award winning Girraween Sports Complex based Club in 2017.
“To be a part of Noosa Lions for the 2017 is something I am looking forward to. Noosa has given me so many great memories over the years and having the chance to wear the blue shirt and add to those memories in 2017 is very exciting” Jancevski enthused.
Sammy Nickolls’ return in goal will look to shore up the back line. In 2016 Nickolls featured in no less than 4 ‘NPL team of the weeks’ , turning in a string of outstanding performances for the Bokarina based Club, such performances earnt Nickolls a selection in the All Star team that faced Brisbane Roar in August.
“During my time at Noosa Lions FC in 2015 it was actually my first year in the McDonalds Sunshine Coast Senior Mens Premier Division, Noosa gave me that opportunity and I enjoyed every moment of it, the level of support you receive from the Club is amazing. Next year I am looking forward to giving more back to the Club within the Junior program to repay the Club that did so much for me last year. Kevin’s return to the Club is a huge bonus for the Club, senior players and especially the Juniors with experience and his contacts. I am looking forward to a huge year….lets go Lions!!!!.
A’herne – Evans spoke with delight of the signings:
“I remember giving Chris his senior debut for Noosa as a 16 year old, his energy and ability to influence the game is outstanding regardless of where he plays. He is a Noosa boy through and through, his passion for the Club and desire to be successful, I know he will give everything he has every week.”
“Sammy is a top keeper with a great attitude, he clearly identifies that his previous stint with the Club under now Central Coast Mariners Youth League Coach Ben Cahn was a great experience and environment for his game to develop. Sam joins us after a very impressive year with the Fire, the game against Strikers at Perry Park this year, it would have got embarrassing if not for Sams contribution that night. Ironically Sam is another player I gave a debut to (NPL) and we as a Club are thrilled he will play an active involvement within our Noosa Football Academy as Head of Goal Keeping “
